After several weeks of intense development, larvae of smooth newts began leaving water and moving to humid terrestrial shelters. The biggest numbers of them can be currently found near shaded parts of ecological corridors made of branches that we had built in early spring. Ahead of them is a period of intense foraging in order to gain weight and survive winter.
